Military Convoy Schio 1916

Motorised transport was one of the developments of the Great War, and indeed the Fabbrica Italiana Automobile Turinesi FIAT supplied motor vehicles to the Allies on all fronts. Here a military convoy speeds through Schio to deliver reinforcements to the alpine resistance to the Hapsburg Spring offensive. After the war military and civilian transport gave the fascist death squads mobility and the power to concentrate their forces denied to socialists and democrats, who could only defend their dispersed urban citadels with local resources.
