Duomo & Rectory, Piazza Rossi, Schio

As documented by the inset plaque visible at right of the stairs on the right of screen leading to the rectory surmounted by the town clock, this imposing edifice dominating the central piazza of Schio was financed from Lanerossi profits by Senator Alessandro Rossi. Rossi believed that the Catholic church provided a fundamental instrument of ideological control of his workforce. Catholic piety is a conservative factor in local politics to this day. Before the church, in telling proximity, stands the monument to the weavers, depicted elswhere in closeup.
